Poolside Guest Cottage
Nestled amidst the most delightful of English country gardens and aside a sparkling swimming pool is this charming timber-framed guest cottage. Set apart from the main house - a period property dating back to the early 1700’s - this secluded escape accommodates the family’s overnight guests and day swimmers alike. The cottage is well-equipped with an open-plan living/dining area, galley kitchen, and one bedroom. Mandy Cuss + Co. were approached to lead the full refurbishment of the guest cottage as well as the renovation of the main house.
French doors in the main living space open out to views of the clients’ flower garden and sweeping lawn. The decor is fresh and simple to enhance the colour and beauty of the nature that surrounds it. Soft white paint with a subtle sheen coats the board and batten walls, relaxed linen curtains and blinds adorn the windows and doors, and a vibrant area rug is the pop of colour upon which the concept for the pool house was based. A beautifully-positioned round table provides a delightful dining space for two or functions as a buffet table for a pool-side picnic. In the living area is a comfortable sofa with big, poofy cushions, a large, bespoke ottoman on which to rest your feet, and a big television when guests want to unwind. The double bedroom is cosy and fresh, having been outfitted with a bespoke upholstered bed in colours to compliment the space, and is adorned with crisp, white Belgian linen bedding. Such a lovely environment that the guests may never want to leave!
